Spring 2026 Division Winners
Congratulations to our Girls U12 Blue and our Girls U15 teams for winning their respective divisions this past spring season! Upcoming Age Changes for Travel Soccer
U.S. Soccer is updating youth soccer age groups nationwide beginning with the upcoming fall season. The new system will use an August 1 to July 31 birthdate range, which is intended to better match players with their school-grade peers.
For most players, this will not change where they play. Players born January 1 through July 31 will age up as usual. Players born August 1 through December 31 will keep the same official age group as last season. However, flexibility will be allowed in the league such that impacted players are not automatically separated from their existing team cohort.
This mainly affects a small number of players born in 2016 or 2014, which are the birth years where players would typically be moving up to new divisions (U11 or U13.) Our district is allowing impacted players to continue playing in the division they would have been eligible for under the old system, should they choose to do so.
Example: A player born in October of 2016 would have played as a U10 last year. Starting this fall, that same player will be considered a U10 again, when they would have otherwise moved up to a U11/U12 division. They will still register as a U10, only now they can opt to play in a U11/U12 division such that they can stay with the group they’ve been playing with. This option only applies to those impacted by the new cut off dates.
When you register, you'll use the link corresponding to your child's birthdate. As we get closer to the season, impacted players will be contacted directly to ask their preference of division.
Boys U15 “Blue” Finishes 2-0-1 in NE Regionals
After winning the CT Cup, CYS’s Boys U15 Blue team advanced to the Northeast regionals last month. Eight teams from Maine, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut played 3 games in 3 days in Simsbury, CT. Our boys won 2 and lost 1, which put them in second place in their group, just shy of advancing to the regional finals. The team that beat our Clinton team was from Eastern PA and they went on to win the Regionals and advance to the Nationals held in Wichita, KS.
Our U15 Boys held their own in this extremely competitive group of teams from all around the Northeast! Congrats on an amazing season!

Did you know?
USA Soccer used the “new” age cut off dates prior to 2017?
Prior to 2017 the age cut off dates were Aug 1- Jul 31st. From 2017 to 2026 they used Jan 1st - Dec 31st to “align with international FIFA calendars.” Starting this fall, the age cut off dates are going back to Aug 1 - Jul 31st as a way to keep teammates in the same academic grade.
